For some time now, Huma Qureshi has been the target of several link-ups and rumours. The latest is a series of Twitter posts that claim she has gotten engaged to Abhishek Chaubey, who directed her in Dedh Ishqiya.
The actor, however, is surprised to hear this. “How do I react to something as stupid as this? I can only laugh it off. There’s no truth to it at all. As a middle class girl from Delhi, with practically no backing in films, this industry and the audience have given me a lot of love. I feel such rumours undermine the struggle that every outsider has to go through here,” she says.
Around the release of their film, rumours had surfaced about her developing a liking for him. Reportedly, the film-maker had attended the launch of a book connected to one of Huma’s films, and that’s when the rumours began. However, the talks quickly died down.
Not the first
Over the past year or so, Huma has been linked to multiple men — Anurag Kashyap (which he has denied vehemently), Sohail Khan and Shahid Kapoor. “No one likes it when their personal life is talked about, and I am no exception. But I guess it’s the price an actor has to pay for being in the public eye,” she had about the Shahid link-up.
Clearly, there has been no confirmation for any of these link-ups.
