Helmed by Ilene Landress of
The Sopranos
fame and scripted by Odd Haynes and Jon Raymond, it will be produced for television network HBO with shooting expected to start in New York in April.
Joan Crawford starred in the 1945 film adaptation, which won her an Academy Award for Best Actress.
