It was actress Amrita Rao’s one chance to work with old colleague, Shahid Kapoor. Kapoor’s mother, Neelima Azeem, approached both her and Shahid with a script, which he reportedly refused. Instead, he gave dates to his father Pankaj Kapur’s film, Mausam.

This development came months after Azeem went around announcing that she hadn’t approached Shahid for her debut directorial Nawab Nautanki, because he is too big a star. Sources close to Shahid say that the actor refused his mother’s film because he didn’t like her script.

“Shahid feels that he should think about his career and not who’s making the film. His mother has been making negative statements like ‘he is too big a star’, which make him uncomfortable,” says a source. Shahid, on his part has been telling friends that he will work with his mother, “if she has a good script and I don’t have other projects”.

Rao confirms, “Yes, Neelimaji approached me with a script (which has now been put on hold).” Azeem, however, says, “I’m still working on Nawaab Nautanki. I’ll talk about my next film when I’m ready.”
