Pasoori song row: Video of Ali Sethi recreating this Arijit Singh song goes viral, fans say ‘We are sorry.’ Watch

An old Instagram Live of Pasoori singer Ali Sethi has emerged on social media, where he is seen apologising to Arijit Singh before trying one of his songs.

Fans of the Pakistani hit song Pasoori were disappointed with the remake version, which was added to the album of Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer Satyaprem ki Katha. Many pointed out that not even Arijit Singh can save the remake of the song originally sung by Ali Sethi. Now, an old video of Ali Sethi recreating Arjit Singh's song Aayat is going viral on the internet, where he even apologises to Arijit before singing the track. In the Instagram Live video that Ali Sethi posted on his Instagram a few years ago, he heaped praises on Arijit Singh and said, "Aapke mulk ke jo sabse jabardast singer he, sabse versatile (The most dynamic singer from your country, the most versatile)... I have said this many times, but you know I feel like the sign of a great singer as opposed to say the sign of a very-gifted singer is that they can make it feel effortless and this is what Arijit Singh does with the song Aayat, which I am obsessed with. Which I think is one of the most beautiful songs to emerge from the Indian movie scene in years. With apologies to Arijit Singh, not that he cares...(sings Aayat from the film Bajirao Mastani)" The same video was plugged in a new Instagram reel by Brut India.

Reacting to the video, many users added to the comments. One said, "I don't think Arijit Singh sang it bad or anything. He's always good to our ears! Mudda sirf Pasoori song ka hai. Bas usey thode arsey aur zehen mein utarne dena tha. (The issue is only with this particular song Pasoori, which should have been given more time to process) It was too ripe to re-create it." A second wrote, “After watching this I have to say mate, we’re sorry for ruining such a beautiful song of yours, arijit just couldn’t pull it. “ A comment read, ”Why fix something that isn't broken? #pasoori”

Earlier, there were speculations arising from Arijit's unverified Twitter account that the singer apparently took up the song because of a special reason. The tweet read that he struck a deal with producers at T-Series to support a cause. When a fan asked him why he signed the deal, the singer said, “The maker has promised me a yearly fund for a school for under privileged. That's more important. Thode gaali kha lenge (I'm fine with a few abuses).”

The new version has garnered predominantly mixed reviews. Tulsi Kumar has lent her voice for the female vocals. Satyaprem Ki Katha hit the theatres on June 29. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sameer Vidwans, the romantic film reunites Kartik and Kiara after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
