Not a secret anymore

Delhi’s glitterati plans to sneak out of town to usher in the New Year, Jaydeep Ghosh shares the details.

If the Delhi swish set thought they could get away with not revealing their party plans for New Year’s eve, they were wrong. Jaydeep Ghosh caught up with them and found that most were planning to head out of the city to usher in 2009.

Goa still remains the hot destination, despite no raves or beach parties. “So what, there is still the sun and the sand to chill”, says Rohit Gandhi who is heading for Goa with a gang that has Rohit Bal, Varun Bahl and Rahul Khanna. “We have taken up a nice big house near the beach and will chill there” explains Varun.

Malini Ramani, the ‘Goa Girl’, however, is heading for sun and sand of Thailand. “Everyone takes a break away from home. Don’t they?” argues Malini. Bangkok also beckon Chintu and Ruchi Chhabra, Manu Arya, Arjun and Malini Sehgal and Sandy Khurana. “We are heading to Phuket for a blissful Island holiday”, said Manu.

There are few heading for Dubai just after the New Year’s Eve to enjoy the steal-deal that the uber luxury hotel Atlantis is offering — a mere 300-400 Dirham per room-night.Those staying back in Delhi have plans too. Designer Ranna Gill is planning to go for Saba and Aniljit Singh’s party. Peter and Sonali Punj are having a cosy family affair at Seville.
