A village named Peepli, located on the border of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, in Aligarh district, has become a tourist hotspot due to the resemblance with the film Peepli Live’s title.

“It’s been a week since the movie’s re-lease and we’ve had around 10 queries from foreigners,” says Amar Oberoi of Oberoi Travels.

According to tour operators, it is ‘social tourism’ that has sparked such curiosity.
