Brand spent a low-key New Year’s Eve at the Savoy Hotel in London with friends.

According to Daily Mirror, when a hotel patron wished him a Happy New Year, he replied stoically “Here’s hoping it gets happier,” People.com reported.

Meanwhile, Perry was presumably still in Hawaii where she was vacationing with friends.

One of them tweeted on New Year’s 2012 about a last day in paradise.
