In fresh trouble for celebrity couple Russell Brand and Katy Perry, an environmental activist has filed a criminal complaint against them and four others for allegedly violating green laws during their marriage in the forests of Ranthambore.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sawaimadhopur district will hear the complaint on October 30."The couple, guests and the hotel authority clearly breached rules and regulations in the forest area but no action was taken by the forest department or by the district administration. I filed the complaint seeking court's direction to probe the matter," complainant Akhshay Sharma told PTI.
He said four people, including the British comedian and his American actor wife, went to the Ranthambore National Park on October 24 where they allegedly violated rules.
"They smoked, consumed liquor, carried weapons, disturbed endangered animals, changed route from No. 2 to No. 3 without permission, alighted from the vehicle (Gypsy), forced people (paparazzi) to alight from their vehicle and even snatched the keys of their vehicle in the park where tiger movement is quite normal," Sharma alleged.
"Anything could have happened there but the authorities did not take any action," he said.
"During the wedding on the next day on October 24, loud music was played in the resort beyond midnight which disturbed the wild animals and local residents, the green activist charged, adding such things were "violation" of section 29, 30, 31 and 32 of Environment Protection Act.
He has named Brand, Perry, two of their guests, a forest official, and the resort manager in his complaint.
Yesterday, following some inputs from journalists in Sawaimadhopur, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had directed District Collector Ravi Kant to probe violation of noise pollution rules during the high profile wedding.
Brand and Perry exchanged wedding vows according to Hindu traditions at the luxury Aman-I-Khas resort near the Ranthambore National Park on Saturday.
