Since he is busy with back-to-back films, you would expect Shahid Kapoor to not have time for family and friends’ special celebrations. But the actor surely knows how to strike the right balance between work and play. Case in point: his latest trip to Hyderabad in the middle of his packed shooting schedule.

Though Shahid is shooting for two films — Phata Poster Nikhla Hero and Rambo Rajkumar — and had rehearsals to take care of as well, he took time out (around a week ago) for something very personal and special. His close friend Sriram, who has known the actor since they were in school, was getting engaged and insisted that Shahid attend the function.

“Shahid has known Sriram for 18 years now, from the time they used to study together in Mumbai. So he immediately spoke to his directors and co-stars and somehow figured a way to attend the engagement in Hyderabad. He was there only for a day, but he made his friend, as well as his entire family, happy with his presence,” says an insider.

Not many know that the young actor has maintained his friendships from school days and still keeps in touch with his close friends on a regular basis. “More than his industry friends, Shahid is comfortable with his buddies from outside the movie world. He enjoys being with them because he is comfortable around them and can discuss anything under the sun without having to think twice,” adds the insider.

Despite repeated attempts, Shahid couldn’t be reached for a comment.
