Snag Shilpa’s bridal style
Shilpa Shetty’s bridal jewellery goes on sale today at the DLF Emporio Mall in the city. But only if you’re ready to shell out a few crores!
Actress Jessica Simpson’s beaded strapless wedding dress is part of designer Vera Wang’s couture line. Michelle Obama’s Jason Wu designed inauguration gown is being sold as a wedding dress in Chicago. Selling one-of-a-kind and custom-made celebrity ensembles in the open market is a bright business pitch among designers and fashion labels. Specially when starry-eyed fans don’t mind paying for it.

In a similar first for India, Shilpa Shetty’s bridal jewellery goes on sale today at the DLF Emporio Mall in the city. But only if you’re ready to shell out a few crores! Three full size mannequins will display exact replicas of the actress’s sangeet, wedding and reception jewellery, along with outfits worn on these functions. Designer Tarun Tahiliani says, “The garments are not on sale. They are merely using them to showcase the jewellery.”
While the mannequin displaying the sangeet look is attired in an Anaarkali kurta and uncut diamond jewellery, the bridal look has her in a red sari with diamonds running through her braid, a headgear, earrings, a huge choker, a rani haar, a peacock armlet, and waistband. The reception mannequin is dressed in a champagne gold sari with a ruby diamond collar and earrings. The lowest priced piece is the peacock armlet in uncut diamonds that the actress donned on her wedding day and costs Rs 2,30,000. The most expensive item is the rani haar, also in uncut diamonds, and stops a few lakhs short of a crore.
“Shilpa gave her nod only to the sale of one piece of each kind. It was all decided before the wedding,” says Ishu Datwani, the designer of the jewellery.
