Super model gets a super support!
Supermodel Ujjwala Raut’s friends stand up for her even as husband Maxwell Sterry approaches the Supreme Court, reports Sujata Reddy.
Even as supermodel Ujjwala Raut’s husband Maxwell Sterry accuses her publicly of abuse and intimidation, her friends say there’s more to the story than what meets the eye.
According to reports, Sterry is alleged to have taken over Raut’s home in Goa and refused to leave and has now approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the Centre’s decision to cancel his PIO card.
Raut, who’s said to have become a recluse of sorts, didn’t let even her friends know that her marriage had hit a rough patch. And many were surprised to see her act like ‘more than just friends’ with hotelier Vikram Chatwal at a fashion event a few months ago. “She was all over Vikram. We were surprised to see Ujjwala act like that because she normally keeps to herself after exchanging pleasantries. At that time, even we didn’t know about her strained relationship with Maxwell,” said her friend from the industry.
Another source said, “Maxwell used to manage Ujjwala’s affairs. He was more like her agent than a husband. And it looked as if he was taking advantage of her. He would decide on matters like which section of the media she spoke to and which shoots she would be a part of.”
A choreographer, who’s a close friend of Raut’s, said that Maxwell is making too big a deal out of the fact that he looked after their child, Ksha. “If he were super busy, Ujjwala would have taken care of Ksha,” said the friend. Model Aditi Govitrikar raved about Raut’s professionalism while runway choreographer Achala Sachdev said, “Ujjwala has been where most models only dream of getting, but she’s still the same person I knew a decade ago. I can’t comment on the equation between her and Maxwell though.” Raut, however, continues to maintain a ‘no-comments’ stance on the issue, as advised by her lawyer.
