MM Keeravani makes history with first Golden Globe win for Naatu Naatu, thanks 'brother' SS Rajamouli

Composer MM Keeravani accepted the award for Best Original for RRR's Naatu Naatu and shared that the award belonged to his 'brother', filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The category was presented by actor Jenna Ortega.

The Telugu film RRR won its first Golden Globe as it picked up Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu on Wednesday. Composer MM Keeravani accepted the award on stage. The category was presented by Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and singers Taylor Swift and Rihanna were also nominated. The composer thanked his fellow nominees Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. He went to say that the award actually belonged to filmmaker SS Rajamouli who he called his 'brother'. The win marks the first major Hollywood award for RRR. It has already picked up several 'best of the year' wins from critics organizations across the US. When the movie's name was called out, the RRR table erupted in celebrated. Rajamouli, who is dressed in an Indian outfit, leapt in delight. The stars, Jr NTR and Ram Charan, are also in attendance to represent the movie.

While accepting the award, Keeravani thanked the HFPA and said he was overwhelmed with the honour. He also thanked his wife, line producer MM Srivalli, who was seated at the table as well. The composer also said, "This award actually belongs to someone else, not me. I'm going to repeat the tradition. The award belongs to my brother and the writer of the movie, SS Rajamouli."

Keeravani also thanked everyone who worked to make the song a global hit, including his fellow nominees Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. He also singled out the leads who "danced with all the stamina for the song".

The official handle for the film also shared the film's win with a photograph of the composer and the caption, "LEGENDARYYYYYY MM KEERAVAANI!!" Fans congratulated the film and song in the comments. One fan wrote, "When the World itself got Naatufied....This Prize is a Small Gift to u by Nature.... Academy Award is Waiting for u Sir....Congratulations @MMkeeravaani Sir. Making India Proud #RRRforOscars #Naatufied #RRRMovie."

RRR is also nominated for Best Non-English Language Film. The Telugu film also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris. It released in India on March 25, 2022.

On Sunday, the cast and crew attended a sold-out IMAX screening of the film at the Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. American filmmaker presented SS Rajamouli before the film. The crowd went to dance by the stage during Naatu Naatu.
