Nagarjuna doesn't take photos on phone because he's scared of being hacked, changes password every 15 days

Actor Nagarjuna spoke at an event about cyber security and more, revealing that he's often scared of being hacked because he's a celebrity. Here's what he said.

Telugu actor Nagarjuna attended the Suraksha Ka Tiranga Cyber Awareness Programme by Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) in Hyderabad on Friday. He spoke about the precautionary measures he takes when using his phone, revealing that he keeps no pictures on it and changes passwords frequently. He also stated that he’s worried about getting hacked because he’s a celebrity. Nagarjuna is afraid of getting hacked

At the event, Nagarjuna said, “I carry a phone, but I am always worried about who will hack into it. I actually change my password every 15 days. I change my WiFi password at home every month or every two months because they can hack into it. I really don’t take any photographs on my phone. There are no photographs. (laughs) So, being a celebrity, I have to be careful about all of this. But I can imagine what they can do to an innocent senior citizen.”

The actor said he became wary after receiving a scam call a few years ago. “Around 4-5 years ago, I got a call from someone posing as a bank officer and saying, ' Would you like me to invest in stocks and equities? Usually, my relationship manager from my bank calls, but this was another call which came. He was so good at marketing this thing, and finally, when I was not giving in, he kept trying to persuade me and called me smart.” Nagarjuna says that he knew something was wrong with the way it was being pitched to him.

He also spoke about how a relative of his was ‘digitally arrested’ at home for 6-7 hours by a ‘cop in a uniform’. “I have also received such calls from people claiming to be from customs and that I have sent a package to Iran,” he said, adding, “They told me I will get a call from the police department. Then a call comes about a suspicious package. You get another call saying there are narcotics in it. When you say you didn’t do, they try to keep you on call at home. Luckily, this relative called the Cyber Crime department.”

Nagarjuna starred in Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa with Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh, and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie with Rajinikanth, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir in 2025. He produced his son, Akhil Akkineni’s comeback film, Lenin, this year. He has a film lined up with Ra Karthik, which will be his 100th.
