RRR box office day 10 collections: SS Rajamouli film crosses ₹900-crore mark, is fifth-highest-grossing Indian film ever
RRR box office day 10 collections: The SS Rajamouli film has become just the fifth Indian film to cross the ₹900-crore mark at the box office.
SS Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR has continued its bull run at the global box office. After a phenomenal first week, the film has managed to hold its own against new releases like Attack. On Sunday, the tenth day of its release, the film has crossed the ₹900 crore mark globally, becoming only the fifth Indian film ever to do so. The Hindi-dubbed version of the film also continues to be the number one Hindi film at the domestic box office. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan tweeted the film's collection figures on Monday afternoon. As per him, the film--all language versions combined--earned ₹82.40 crore on Sunday, taking its second weekend total to ₹192 crore and overall earnings to an impressive ₹901.46 crore.
This figure means RRR has surpassed Aamir Khan's PK to be the fifth-highest-grossing Indian film ever. Only four films have more earnings than RRR now- Secret Superstar ( ₹966.86 crore), Bajrangi Bhaijaan ( ₹969.06 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion ( ₹1,810 crore), and Dangal ( ₹2,024 crore). Trade analysts estimate that RRR should leap frog to third spot by the end of its run. However, the numbers of Baahubali 2 and Dangal are likely to remain out of its reach.
The film's Hindi-dubbed version has remained strong at the domestic box office as well. According to a report in BoxOfficeIndia.com, "RRR (Hindi) cruised past the 50 crore nett mark for its second weekend and it could have been a liitle more but the start of Ramazan hit collections at places. The film joins an elite list of films which have done 50 crore nett over the second weekend. The drop in the second weekend is only 33% which is excellent."
RRR is directed by SS Rajamouli and stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead. The film is loaded with VFX and is based on the lives of Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) and Alluri Seetharama Raju (Ram Charan) in pre-independence India. The movie also features Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson.
