Avinash: I feel helpless seeing Sambhavna’s struggles with IVF

Actor-writer Avinash Dwivedi, who is married to Sambhavna Seth, opens up about his decision to go the IVF way to have a child in their life

Actor-writer Avinash Dwivedi’s wife, actor Sambhavna Seth, is undergoing IVF (in vitro fertilisation), of which several cycles have failed. Watching her go through the process again and again, he shares, makes him feel helpless.

“We have faced a lot of challenges in conceiving. When we got married, we didn’t think of becoming parents at that time, because we didn’t think we were ready then. There was a lot of pressure from our family even then. But we felt that the decision should come from within us; otherwise there is no point to it,” says Dwivedi, 33, who married Seth in 2016.

The Kakuda writer adds, “When we finally got ready to have a baby, we had trouble conceiving. So, we started trying with IVF. I have seen that it is a very painful process, especially when it fails. It has helped a lot of couples, but watching Sambhavna go through this again and again breaks my heart.”

Elaborating on the struggles, he shares that Seth, 41, has “endured a lot during the process — mentally, emotionally, and even financially, as IVF is quite exhausting”.

Here, he reveals that it was his wife’s decision to keep trying IVF, and that she is determined to go through the process again and again. “Her body goes through so many changes as well as mood shifts. Her normal life goes for a toss in that one month (of the IVF cycle). But she is determined to try it again and again,” he asserts, noting her desire to experience motherhood.

Meanwhile, Dwivedi is also contemplating adoption. “We are planning to adopt a child in the future,” he concludes.
