Pop star Lady Gaga has revealed that she once tried to steal a photo of her idol Whoopi Goldberg from a New York hotel only to be caught red-handed by security.
The Paparazzi hitmaker has long admired Goldberg for her career achievements as a singer, movie star, and stage actress and wanted to take home a little memento from her hotel stay.
But she failed to get away with the cheeky crime and was forced to hand back the framed picture almost as soon as she’d swiped it.
“I’m a huge, huge, huge Whoopi fan and there’s this one hotel that I stay at where there’s photos of you everywhere throughout the lobby,” Contact music quoted Gaga as telling Goldberg on US talk show The View.
“So I went out with my friends one night and we’d had a little bit to drink, and we... saw this photo of you and I said, ‘Oh, I love her so much, I just want to take her up to my room’.
“I thought it would be funny to steal the Whoopi (photo) in the back entrance. So we got upstairs, me and my girlfriends were laughing our heads off and I swear, five minutes later I heard (knocking on the door). It was the hotel security and they go, ‘we’re gonna need to have Whoopi back’. I’m like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about’ as I’m kicking it to the side!” she revealed.
