Why do you want to hide Aarav?
He’s 7 and a winner. But Akshay Kumar’s son Aarav hates to be clicked.
He closed his eyes, covered his face and even hid behind grandmom Dimple Kapadia to avoid the shutterbugs. However, the clickeratti didn’t stop. After all, it was superstar Akshay Kumar’s 7-year-old son, Aarav Bhatia, at the centre of attraction. And this left the star-kid visibly miffed.
Aarav was in Delhi on Friday to receive the ‘Extraordinary Contribution by a Child’ award, presented for his contribution towards reducing global warming, at the Green Globe Foundation Awards. Inspired by a television programme, Greenathon, in 2009 Aarav asked his superstar father to adopt a village without electricity and supply it with solar lanterns and other energy saving devices.
Once Akki adopted the Bhuriba Wasky Dhani village, Aarav took charge. He takes a personal interest in the village and checks everything before it is sent over.
When asked whether it was his father’s or his idea to adopt the village, Aarav shyly said, “Both”. And the little champ’s shyness continued. While on stage to receive his award, he kept turning towards Dimple to hide his face. At one point, he even said ‘No!’, put a finger on his lips and turned away with an irritated expression. He was whisked away after the event to avoid further media glare.
Akshay and wife and Twinkle were in Germany attending a hydro-therapy course and couldn’t attend the event.
