Yes, these cricketers are finger lickin' good
It’s not just the game, but the ‘play boys’ that have city youngsters waiting for the Cricket World Cup to begin. From James Anderson’s hairstyles to Virat Kohli's wild image— the hot heroes of the field are already turning demi-gods on various college campuses.
It’s not just the game, but the ‘play boys’ that have city youngsters waiting for the Cricket World Cup to begin. From James Anderson’s hairstyles to Dale Steyn’s blue eyes — the hot heroes of the field are already turning demi-gods on various college campuses.

As the tournament got underway with a star-studded opening ceremony in Dhaka on Thursday night, we asked 100 college girls to pick their favourites from the participating pack, and tell us what makes them hot stuff.
South African bowler Dale Steyn’s blue eyes clearly have the girls smitten. “He absolutely makes me go weak in the knees. I’d watch a match just for him,” says Himani Shah, 19. Experts agree. “He is very attractive, and I am completely bowled over by his deep blue eyes,” says Neo Sports anchor Archana Vijaya.
Bad boy turned good
English player Kevin Pietersen, who’s been a cricket hottie since his debut in 2003, continues to be counted among the studs. “He is the original bad boy turned gentleman. From his blonde streaks to turning doting dad, he has come a long way. I can take him to my mother any day,” says Shruti Bhalla, student. “At 6 feet 4 inches, Kevin Pietersen’s imposing frame compels you to sit up and take notice,” says Doordarshan’s sports presenter Raman Bhanot.
English bowler James Anderson, known for his hot bod, has been compared to soccer player David Beckham — one of the most fashionable sportsmen.
“His smouldering looks remind me of Mr Darcy and the fact that he is willing to go naked at the drop of the hat does not hurt either,” says Anusheel Bhan, 22, referring to Anderson’s nude shoot for British magazine Attitude’s cover in October 2010.
Most female fans seem to be charmed by the boys’ tattoos and naughty looks. The desi contender in this category is newbie Virat Kohli, who also made it to the top five. “Virat is good-looking, has age on his side, and a huge female fan following,” says VJ Siddharth Bhardwaj, who hosted IPL parties last year.
New Zealand all rounder Brendon Mccullum is another favourite. “I think his game is part of his charm. He comes across as someone arrogant and strong, so Mills and Boon-ish,” says college student Sneha Pandit.
Indian captain, MS Dhoni gets special mention. “He’s the perfect hero in every way. Too bad he’s married,” says Neha Gulati, a second year student. Shane Watson, 29, and Brett Lee, 35 also scored high on the favs list.
