The 26-year-old native of Delhi walked the ramp for a charity event in London on Monday along with Adele Bellis, a 24-year-old an acid attack survivor from Suffolk in the UK.

“The fashion show on Monday was themed ‘Rise on the Runway’. The ramp walk – organised by GMSP Foundation London – was for raising awareness about violence against women,” said Vasini Sharma, a member of the Stop Acid Attack campaign and an official at the Sheroes Hangout in Lucknow.

Laxmi’s partner Alok and her one-and-a-half year-old daughter Pihu have accompanied her to London, she added.

Adele Bellis’ boyfriend attacked her with acid in 2014, permanently damaging one of her ears. Laxmi was attacked 11 years ago when she was 15 by a 32-year-old man who she refused to get married to.

However, this isn’t the first time that Laxmi is receiving global recognition. She was felicitated by US First Lady Michelle Obama after winning the International Women of Courage Award for successfully leading the campaign against acid attacks on women in India in 2014.

Her association with the international fashion world isn’t new either. Laxmi is the brand ambassador of brand Viva and Diva and she first walked the ramp in 2013 during the HT Woman Award function in Lucknow.
