In linen pants and a lightweight cotton shirt, Omkar Kapoor is dressed to beat the heat when we meet him at his apartment overlooking Versova beach. Kapoor started his career as a child actor, in films such as Judwaa (1997) and Hero No 1 (1997). More recently, he acted in Pyaar ka Punchnama 2 (2015).
Style sensibility: “My look for the day is defined by my mood. I am not trend-driven. My priority is to dress comfortably. I’m all about basic clothes with a pop of colour to add some fun. My style is constantly evolving, and I like to take cues by observing people, especially when I travel.”
Wardrobe staples: “Round-neck T-shirts in all colours, well-fitted denims, three-fourth sleeved check shirts, hoodies and jackets. I am not particularly fond of formal wear.”

Shoe obsession: “Shoes are the easiest way to elevate a man’s look or introduce a touch of colour. My reversible Adidas Superstars are one of the most worn-out pairs. I’m also drawn to boots as it improves your posture . I’m a flip-flop fanatic and don’t think twice before spending on them.”

Add ons: “I use accessories, especially belts, to add something interesting visually to my looks. They range from funky to formal. I recently purchased a scented belt from Goa.”
Designer dossier: “I’m loyal to certain brands because of their quality, variety and style. Zara, River Island, Superdry, Bershka, H&M, Calvin Klein, GAS and Diesel are my go-to brands.”

Shopping haunts: “USA is great for shopping — you get the best collections and the pricing is reasonable. Dubai and Thailand are my other favourites. I like to plan my shopping, and am not impulsive. I can’t shop online as I need to feel the fabric before buying something.”
Perfume junkie: “I have a weakness for perfumes. My collection is categorised based on seasons and occasions — Clinique Happy for summer and 212 by Carolina Herrera for monsoon. Kenneth Cole Black is great for the night while Safari by Ralph Lauren is an all-time favourite.”

Lust list: “I would love to buy a Breitling watch. I have a watch case that I need to fill up, and this would be a prized addition.”
Style icon: “While I don’t emulate anyone in particular, I admire Ranveer Singh’s sartorial guts. He’s so confident about wearing what he does. And I think Ryan Gosling carries his suits well.”
Words of advice: “Understand your body type and wear what suits you. Heed a woman’s advice — be it your mother or girlfriend — when it comes to your wardrobe. They do know best.”
