Last December, Imran Khan was voted Mumbai’s Most Stylish. And the fashion-conscious Bollywood star is taking the badge very seriously.

After tying up with Denizen, a brand created by jeans giant Levi Strauss, to endorse and create a signature line of denims, he now plans to design T-shirts and jackets for the next season. And the actor promises that he won’t just lend his name to the line, but look into every last detail himself. “Even for the jeans, I selected the fabric, chose the cuts and colours, decided on the patterns and planned the washes,” he reveals.

For the 29-year-old actor, it’s less about style and more about the fabric and stitch. “I don’t chase after fads because anything trendy goes out of fashion in a few months. For me, the cut and tailoring have to be top-notch, and the clothes a perfect fit,” he explains.

Quiz Imran on what kind of tees he has in mind, and he says with a smile, “I like polos and button collars. You can dress up in them and still be dressed-down.” Formals next? “Well, since I’ve tied up with a denim and lifestyle brand, I don’t see that happening. But you can wear a blazer to a formal do too,” he points out. “My personal wardrobe is also casual and comfortable. I’m a jeans and tee guy.”

His date flick, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, opened this Friday to rave reviews and is being promoted extensively as a Valentine’s Day treat. Ask Imran about his V-day plans and says, “When you love someone, you don’t wait for one day in the year to demonstrate it.”

The actor with the squeaky clean image admits that when he was younger, girls liked bad boys better. But now that he’s married, he’s in demand. “I guess as they grow older, they are drawn to steady, stable guys who, if they cross the line, are no longer reliable. It’s a Catch-22 situation,” he admits. “I spend most of my time working with the most beautiful women, but in the eight years I’ve been with Avantika, I’ve not been attracted to another woman. Something intangible keeps me by her side. I don’t know where our marriage certificate is. And even while wearing a ring, you could betray someone if your heart is elsewhere.”
