Don’t know what to do with throwaway clothes lying in your closet? In the third of our five-part series, we tell you how to create fun looks with your kurta by teaming it up with
different outfits.

Is your wardrobe brimming with pretty kurtas you used to pair with churidaars and breezy patialas in college? Don’t stack them at the back of your closet where they will never see the light of day again! Bring your favourite kurta out as we tell you how to rock them in five different ways. From the gypsy look that will bring about a riot of colours in your look, to bringing on elegance in a high waisted skirt for a vintage vibe — you can do a lot with your kurta.

When choosing the basic garment, make sure the length is appropriate so you can play around with the styling. Just above the knee would make for a good choice. Hair and makeup also has to be in tandum, so get ready and get going!

Retro chic blouse
Revamp your kurta with this look to bring a vintage vibe to a dinner party.
ACE THE LOOK: Indulge in retro glam by tucking in your kurta inside a high waisted flared long skirt. For this look keep the bling minimal and accessorise with an antique side pendant and a matching clutch. Slip your feet into a pair of round toed kitten heels to accentuate the classic vibe of this outfit. Fashion your hair into a messy side bun and pin a bow. Voila, you are set to charm the socks off a gentleman!

The banjaaran beauty
For those boho-breezy days when you are heading out to make a statement.
ACE THE LOOK: Wear the kurta in its basic element, without any tucking or cinching. The look only needs a gypsy-style skirt to go. Accessorise with embellished juttis, a coin-studded neckpiece and a multi-hued jhola, worn like a sling bag. For the finishing touch, do a hammered metal anklet. For the hair, do two twists on each side and tuck with bobby pins. Now, make multiple thin braids and let rest of the hair fall loose.

The breezy brunch look
For that brunch with your girls. The cute look will make your day sunny-side up.
ACE THE LOOK: For your kurta-dress, revamp the side slits. We used safety pins to zip them up, but you can also up the fashion stakes by playing with gold safety pins and do a criss-cross mash-up on the slits for cover. Pair with pop coloured heels, a multi-hued head band and a smart bag. The ponytail adds a does of fresh oomph. If you want to mix it up, skip the bag and add a chunky day bracelet and a softer, coral lip colour.

Draped darling
Try this look for a glamorous evening to ooze old-world charm.
ACE THE LOOK: Here’s where you can really show off your style-innovation. Using the kurta as a blouse, bring in a touch of class. The floral pattern helps add to the vintage vibe, and the pallu drape, a unique personality . Tuck the kurta into the petticoat and tie a block coloured sari, complete with multiple-pleats and of course, a multitude of safety pins to secure. The messy side bun with a black ribbon
tie-up adds to the retro vibe.

Knotted boho blouse
Want to rock a casual look at a coffee date or a shopping trip with the girls? This look is perfect for you.
ACE THE LOOK: Add a double dose of casual glam to a pair of glitzy shorts by turning the kurta into a knotted blouse. Just tuck the rear end of the kurta inside the shorts and knot the front part to one side. Roll up the sleeves and you are set to flaunt a girly knotted top. You can also jazz up the look with a glittery slim belt or a pair of pop hued flats.
