As an indulgent wine shade called Marsala is touted to take over in the upcoming year: we tell you how to wear the bold colour.fashion and trends Updated: Jan 03, 2015 13:59 IST
While a tall glass can de-stress you, a big flute filled to the top can set you in a celebratory mood. Now, global colour and trend forecaster, Pantone, has given you another reason to tap into some earthy red wine, but, for your wardrobe.
The firm has declared Marsala, an indulgent wine-y shade, as the colour of 2015 which takes over this year’s ‘radiant orchid’ as the reigning hue. “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the colour institute.
A red carpet favourite: You can incorporate Marsala in your wardrobe by taking cues from the red carpet. When actor Mila Kunis rocked a wine-drenched Monique Lhuillier dress with a play of sheer-infused tulle at an awards function a few years back, it was just one of the many celeb sightings that championed the shade.
While our desi runways have also rocked the trend with designers like Manish Malhotra incorporating it in luxe bridalwear, international ramps of Marchesa and Burberry have also been big on the shade. Take on the trend: Start imbibing the colour in your closet by picking up faux leather in the wine hue, and ditching staple black for a deep version of the colour for your ankle-length boots or the next party.
