Mrs India scores international crown

Hot mommy Kavita Sachdev wins second place at Mrs Globe competition, readying for Bollywood debut.

Back when Kavita Sachdev gave up her career as an airhostess to get married and have a baby, pageants weren’t part of the deal. But the reigning Mrs India has just scored first runner-up at the Mrs Globe competition in California, US, and has her fingers crossed for the Mrs World competition to be held in South Korea later this year.

“After the birth of my baby Kasha, my whole life changed. Then, my husband Nicholai suggested I participate in Mrs India, for a change of pace”. He even filled the form, Kavita recalls, adding, “My life was a roller-coaster ride from being an airhostess to falling in love and having the perfect family. But sometimes I’d stop and think, ‘What am I doing now?’”

After her win, the married model has even scored some film offers. “There are two projects in hand, discussions for which are underway,” she reveals. “I want to break the stereotype that you have to be young and single to make it in Bollywood, and hopefully I’ll succeed in doing so.”

Ask what her two-year-old daughter makes of all the fuss and she says, “I never leave the house without telling her that I’m going off on a shoot, so she understands that and even tells all her friends about me. I think she’ll be proud of the fact that I’ve achieved all this after getting married and having her.”

Kavita’s advice to other moms is: “Don’t ignore yourself just because you have a husband and child to look after. Only if you love yourself can you really be there for your family as well.”
