Fashion and Design Promotion Council (FDPC) is contemplating a fashion hub in Delhi. The Council has already requested the government for land to set up the first India fashion centre in Delhi. Though the location has not been decided, the centre will have its subsequent branches in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Pre-empting the hassles faced by designers while setting up their enterprises, the FDPC decided to provide them with a dedicated space. Says Vijay Singh, CEO and Secretary of the Council, “At this centre, every designer will get an individual space. The Centre will also serve as a permanent space for industry B2B events, as well as trade and fashion shows, which are currently held at places like Pragati Maidan.”
This will also be a destination where international buyers can find Indian designers and their work.
