FIFA World Cup 2018: Twitter lauds skipper Harry Kane as England beat Tunisia
Harry Kane scored twice - including a stoppage time goal - as England started their FIFA World Cup 2018 campaign with a narrow win over Tunisia on Monday.football Updated: Jun 19, 2018 09:39 IST
It was a special performance by skipper Harry Kane as the Tottenham Hotspur striker scored twice to guide England to a 2-1 victory over Tunisia in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Volgograd on Monday.
Kane put England deservedly ahead in the 11th minute when Tunisia keeper Mouez Hassen could only palm a strong header by John Stones towards the striker who coolly guided it to the back of the net.
However, England paid the price for their wastefulness when Tunisia were awarded a penalty and Ferjani Sassi scored low to the right of England keeper Jordan Pickford in the 35th minute.
With both teams tied at 1-1 and just four minutes remaining in the game, it looked like the game is heading towards a draw. But, Kane had other plans as a glancing header from Harry Maguire found the skipper at the back post and Harry Kane cleverly nodded home to give England a winning start.
Harry Kane, who became the first England football team player to score twice in a FIFA World Cup game since Gary Lineker in 1990, was easily the star of the game and Twitter users were all praise for the Premier League sensation. Here’s a look at some of the tweets –

After the first round of matches, England and Belgium are the early front-runners in Group G. But while England had to work hard for their win, Belgium cruised to a 3-0 victory over Panama. England will take on Panama in their next group stage encounter on Sunday.
