The woman, who is a resident of Rewari and runs a boutique in Gurgaon from last few years, told the police that he broke up claiming that she belonged to a different caste. She filed a police complaint against Amit Sharma, a resident of Sector 23. He is yet to be arrested.

“The accused is absconding and we are conducting raids to arrest him. We have taken out the CDR report of the accused and, based on technical investigation, we will arrest him soon,” inspector Bijender Singh Hooda, SHO Civil Lines, said.

The woman received a friend’s request on Facebook from Sharma around seven months ago. After accepting his request, the woman started chatting regularly with Sharma and met him after a while.

Sharma promised to marry her and helped her move her into a rented accommodation in Patel Nagar two months ago. He took the woman to various locations during their relationship and raped her.

However, a few days ago, Sharma told her that he is not interested in continuing their relationship and refused to marry her as she belonged to a different caste. He also stopped taking her calls after January 17.

The woman does not know where Sharma lives.

Police said a team was sent to a gym in Sector 14, where Sharma is employed as a gym instructor, but he did not turn up for work.
