28-year-old BPO executive run over by cab in Gurugram, dies

According to DLF Phase-2 police, the accident took place at 5.10am near the Ambience Mall on the Delhi-gurgaon expressway when Sondhi was on his way to his office

A 28-year-old, Delhi based BPO executive was killed after a speeding car hit him near Ambience Mall on early Thursday morning. The accident took place when the victim, Vaibhav Sondhi, was arguing with a cab driver who had rammed his car on the expressway, police said.

Two passengers the cab that hit Sondhi were also severely injured in the accident, police said. Sondhi, a resident of west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, worked in the Pace City-2, Sector 37.

According to DLF Phase-2 police, the accident took place at 5.10am near the Ambience Mall on the Delhi-gurgaon expressway when Sondhi was on his way to his office.

“Sondhi was headed to his office in his Hyundai i-20 car. He was accompanied by his brotherin-law, Ankit Khurana. As soon as they crossed the mall towards the service lane of the expressway, a speeding Maruti Swift Dezire cab rammed into their car from the right side. Sondhi stopped immediately and got down to check the damage to his car. At this instant, another speeding cab rammed into the car and ran over Sondhi,” Gaurav Phogat, inspector, DLF phase 2 said.

Sondhi was severely injured with his both legs being crushed. The two passengers in the cab which had hit his car, were also injured, police said.

Police said all the three cars involved in the accident were impounded and parked at DLF Phase 3 police post. However, the cab drivers escaped leaving their vehicles.

An FIR has been registered against the two unidentified cab drivers under section 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering the life of personal safety of others), 427 (causing damage) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of IPC at DLF-II police station.

Khurana, a resident of southeast Delhi, called the police control room. He, along with the police team, rushed Sondhi to a private hospital near Jharsa, Sector 15, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The victim is survived by his wife and two-year-old son.the family members alleged that had the Jharsa hospital referred Sondhi to a multi-speciality hospital, he could have been saved.
