Acquisition row: Huda to re-survey New Palam Vihar

A day after disgruntled residents of New Palam Vihar filed a representation against acquisition of land in the area, Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) administrator Praveen Kumar has assured that he will order a re-survey in the colony to locate vacant plots for two 66kv power sub-stations.

A group of 50 residents, including women and senior citizens, met Kumar at his camp office in Sector 27 on Friday and requested him to shift the proposed sub-stations that currently Huda has earmarked on the land where houses exist.

In case the sites are not shifted, more than 50 families will become homeless.

“I have not made any commitment. Shifting of sites is possible according to Huda law. This is what I have told residents but this depends on the availability of land in the vicinity.

On earlier occasions, Huda has shifted earmarked sites. Residents have a right to file their objections under Section 5-A of the Huda Act within 30 days of publication of a public notice. We are not going to harm people or damage their houses for the power sub-stations,” said the Huda administrator.

Kumar also added that he will ask Huda’s land acquisition department to work out a solution to save the houses.
