A group of activists will perform plays and skits, encouraging people to raise their voices against sexual assault and eve-teasing cases.
The activists will perform in front of Sahara Mall at MG Road as it has witnessed several drunken brawls and crimes against women. However, no major incident has been reported from near the mall in the past few months.
Citizen's Collective against Sexual Assault (CCSA), a group of people and organisations, will conduct a sensitisation session on the issue. Skits and plays are a part of this programme.
Richa Dubey, a group member, said the programme aims at drawing support and participation from more and more residents. They will be imparted crisis-handling techniques by CCSA volunteers, she said.
"Obscene remarks, catcalls, whistling, leering, stalking, molesting and acid attacks are common in Gurgaon and other NCR areas. The society, too, blames the victims most of the time. We plan to work on generating better awareness on such issues," she said.
The group is also trying to include participation from eminent residents from the field of politics, art, police and administration.
In March, a women bar employee at Sahara Mall, was allegedly abducted and gangraped.
In the wake of such incidents, a group of city women had launched 'Girlcott' movement. As part of the initiative, it had boycotted shopping in malls to build pressure on the merchant class, who could impress upon the Gurgaon administration to improve the law and order situation in the city.
