The civic agencies in Gurgaon have doubled their efforts to check waterlogging and fill potholes in the city after Thursday’s chaos at Hero Honda Chowk and other areas that exposed the chinks in the infrastructure.

Following instructions from chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar to improve maintenance, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) are working to remove bottlenecks, install pumps and fill potholes.
MCG commissioner TL Satyaprakash, who has promised Khattar that there will not be a repeat of Thursday’s chaos, said all resources and personnel at the MCG’s disposal have been pressed into action.
Prior to the CM’s visit on Monday, the MCG commissioner drove through Gurgaon and identified stretches that need immediate repair. The two main roads identified for repair include Dundahera, the internal road that connects the main Palam Vihar road with Old Delhi Road.
“We have taken all necessary steps in the aftermath of the waterlogging to ensure that the problem does not arise again,” he said.
MCG officials filled potholes on the main roads in their respective areas and installed pumps at Vatika Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and Subash Chowk. The Huda installed pumps at Marble Market, Sector 34, Sector 28 and at its nursery in Sector 14. The pumps are also installed at Nathupur village, Kanhai village and Sikanderpur village.
The civic agencies are also repairing the stormwater drains and sewers in Old Gurgaon.
After a suggestion from the NDRF, the deputy commissioner also directed setting up of a joint control room for disaster management with specific duties for officials. Super sucker machines have also been pressed in action at Nathupur and Sikanderpur to clean the drains.
Huda administrator Yashpal Yadav said a detailed plan to expand and increase the capacity of the Badshahpur drain throughout its length is being made.
“We will spare no effort to prevent waterlogging and other civic problems in Gurgaon,” he said.
