Carjackers kill NTPC engineer on way home

A 41-year-old engineer working with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) was killed by suspected carjackers in Gurgaon on Friday night.

A 41-year-old engineer working with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) was killed by suspected carjackers in Gurgaon on Friday night.

PV Shaji, hailing from Kerala, was found injured on a road near Darbaripur village. He succumbed to injuries in hospital, police said.

The victim suffered heavy stab injuries on the head and stomach. A passerby spotted him on an approach road connecting to National Highway-8 while his Maruti Ritz car, cell phone, cash and some other valuables were found missing.

Shaji lived with his Italian wife, Sandra, in Darbaripur. She runs a shelter home in the city.

The engineer, who was posted in the NTPC office in Badarpur, Delhi, was on his way home when the incident occurred.

According to the police, he stopped en route to grab a bite at a restaurant near the city police station. After having some snacks, Shaji complained of stomach ache and left the eatery.

Later, he was found injured in Kherkri Dhaula area where a passerby saw him lying in pool of blood.

The victim was rushed to a private hospital and referred to Artemis Hospital where he succumbed to injuries, said a police official.
