Women in the city participated in a marathon on Saturday morning to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Pinkathon Inaugural Run started from the Ramada Gurgaon Central hotel in Sector 44 at 5:30 am. More than 150 women participated in the event. It was organized by the Delhi Pink Marathon Group.
The event was organised in two categories-- 5km and 10km. Although it was a first-of-its-kind run, women from all age groups took part in it.
Women aged 45 and above were offered free mammograms and women aged below 45 were provided free health check-ups.
The organizers said that the run was organized to raise awareness about breast cancer among women and encourage them to have regular check-ups.
Keeping in mind the hot and humid weather, a doctor and medical facilities were also available during the run.
The event is a flag-off to the main Pinkathon Marathon Run that will take place in Delhi on September 4. This is the 4th edition of Pinkathon, an initiative to encourage women to adapt a healthy lifestyle.
Milind Soman, model and actor who encouraged participants during the run, said, “The first promotional run for the 4th edition of the Delhi Pinkathon, India’s biggest women run, was full of excitement. Many of the women have included running in their lifestyle with Pinkathon. A lot of them have also encouraged relatives, friends and neighbours to participate this time.”
Abhishek Mishra, who has won the title of Ironman, said, “Pinkathon for me is not just a running event. It is a revolution which is spreading awareness on why and how women should be concerned about their health.”
