At least four security personnel of the condominium suffered suffocation while trying to control the blaze. They tried to put off the fire before fire fighters reached the spot.

Though the actual reason of fire is yet to ascertained, the fire department officials suspect that the blaze may have triggered due to short circuit.

"May be because of short circuit," said MS Bharadwaj, district fire officer.

The district fire department is also probing whether the premises lack fire-safety measures.

"The four security personnel were taken to the nearby Umkal Hospital. They were discharged after primary treatment," said a security staff of the Galleria condominium.

Electricity wires, telephone and internet cables were badly damaged.

According to a security staff, the electricity was restored by 7pm, yet telephone and internet services were disturbed.
