Gurgaon civic polls: Civic issues, women concerns focus of mayor, deputies
Mayor Madhu Azad highlighted the issue of women safety on her list and said she will regularly speak to Gurgaon police for taking up matters
Addressing local civic woes and issues pertaining to women are the priority of the newly elected mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor.

Speaking on these issues, mayor Madhu Azad, 50, thanked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for having faith in her and said the governance of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh and district president Bhupinder Chauhan will be her guiding points.
“The support of local leaders across southern Haryana has been overwhelming and I am hopeful of repaying the party’s faith in me,” Azad said.
“The three glaring issues in terms of civic amenities are road, water and sewerage. Once these are tackled, backward areas will get a push in terms of development,” Azad said.
She also highlighted the issue of women safety on her list and said she will regularly speak to Gurgaon police for taking up matters.
Senior deputy mayor Pramila Devi Kablana, 39, attributed her victory to the work her husband and Congress leader Gaje Singh Kablana has done, which helped swing votes her way.
“Firstly, I want to thank the people in my ward for electing me as a councillor. They have seen my husband’s work closely and have faith that I will be able to replicate the same.” Pramila said.
“I want to carry forward the winning momentum and take up local issues in each ward and focus on women empowerment,” Pramila said.
Second-time councillor and deputy mayor Sunita Yadav, 46, said she wants to remove corruption from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and resolve water issues.
“The results are a testament to women power. I hope that I and the other two winners continue to change the perception towards women in society,” Sunita said.
