Gurgaon: Iffco Chowk underpass construction hits petrol pump roadblock
The petrol pump has to be shifted as it is falling in the way of the underpass
The construction of the underpass at Iffco Chowk is likely to be hampered as a petrol pump located on the highway, towards Sukhrali side, which is in the way of the underpass, is not going to be shifted immediately. The owner of the petrol pump has obtained a stay from a local court against the shifting notice served by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda).

Now, the Huda will have to get the stay vacated and hand over the land to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is constructing the underpass and elevated U-turn at Iffco Chowk.
Apart from the petrol pump under dispute, three other petrol pumps are located around Iffco Chowk and Signature Towers and are to be shifted by Huda.
The Huda sent shifting notices to these petrol pumps six months ago. Later, the Huda sent reminders to them after receiving notices from the NHAI regarding handing over possession of land.
The Huda has allotted alternative sites to these petrol pumps but possession is yet to be given.
Rao Dharampal, former MLA and senior Congress leader, who owns this Sukhrali petrol pump, told Hindustan Times that the Huda made an inordinate delay in giving possession of the alternative site.
“Unless we get possession of alternative land, the Huda should not send us a repeated reminders to vacate the current petrol pump premises. We still assure the Huda that we will vacate our stay the moment we get possession of the plot alternative plot. For such a big development of the city, we are always ready to help in any way we can,” Dharampal said.
Yashpal Yadav, Huda administrator, said, “We will hand over possession of land in Sector 33 to Sukhrali petrol pump owner in a week. There are no issues about that. We are just waiting for a nod from the head office in Chandigarh for extension approval of the petrol pump.”
“Our priority is the underpass work, which is underway at Iffco Chowk,” the administrator said.
