Gurgaon washerman held for molesting 8-yr-old in lift

A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl inside the lift of a housing society on Sohna Road on Monday.

Vijay, who works as a washerman in the society, has been sent to jail after being produced before a court here, police said.

The girl, who is a class 3 student at a reputed Gurgaon school, was inside the elevator to go to her flat in the Bestech Park View City apartments when the incident took place on Sunday. Apart from the victim, another girl and Vijay were in the lift.

The girl’s father told the police that the accused started molesting the girl after asking for water from the bottle she carried. Both girls, police said, got scared and screamed for help forcing the accused to escape.

The police booked Vijay under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at Sadar police station and arrested him on Monday

“He has been sent to jail after being produced before a court,” said Vijay Kumar, station house officer, Sadar police station.
