“We are planning to invite renowned architects/designers to prepare a fresh design of the building,” said Huda administrator Praveen Kumar.

Unlike its previous plan, Huda has made provisions this time to accommodate the offices of the district town planning (DTP) and the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), besides its own office.

“Huda, DTP and MCG will shift to the proposed building. We hope that the building is constructed at the earliest,” said the administrator.

“The fresh design is yet to be prepared. I cannot comment further on this,” he added.

The four-acre prime land identified for the building is still lying vacant.

Though five years ago, Huda had invited renowned architect Hafeez Contractor to prepare the building’s design, things did not work out due to the cost factor.

“In the earlier plan, the authorities had only planned the shifting of the Huda office. As the cost of project was too high, it was rejected by the Haryana government and it asked to make space for the DTP and MCG as well,” said the official.

As per the old plan, the building was supposed to be 82-metre high similar to buildings such as Vikas Minar of DDA in IP Estate, New Delhi.

At present, Huda and DTP operate from a four-storey building in Sector 14, while the MCG operates from an old double-storey building located near Sadar Bazar in Old Gurgaon.

“These building are 30- years old. The ceilings and walls are badly damaged, while every room is packed with files,” said YS Gupta, former MCG official.
