Huda re-carpets major city roads damaged in rain

The carpeting work began on Saturday and continued through Sunday on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, which was recently carpeted by the authority.

Hindustan Times had on Friday reported about the impact of rains on the city roads, including those carpeted a couple of months ago.

"In the first phase, both sides of the service lane along the 5-km stretch of the MG Road are being re-carpeted. The main carriageway will be re-carpeted later,' a Huda official said.

The service lanes were in a bad shape, especially near Sikandarpur and MG Road Metro stations, and often waterlogged.

"We are to re-carpet all the major city roads in New Gurgaon which are approved for repair work by the government recently," said an executive engineer, Huda.

Last week after two days of rain, most of the city roads developed cracks and potholes. Several roads in the Millennium City like the one near Ardee City in Sector 40 and Sohna Road were worst affected due to rain.

Yet, the residents are not satisfied with the quality of works.

“The contractors are still using poor quality materials for repairing roads but the authority is least concerned,” said Balbir Singh of Sushant Lok 1.
