After the death of 4-year-old Mahi Upadhyay who fell into an open borewell pit last month, Gurgaon district magistrate PC Meena had made it mandatory for all drilling or borewell agencies to get themselves and their machines registered with the district administration.
The action is also a preventive measure to improve the depleting groundwater level.
All agencies, including government, semi-government and private outlets, can apply for registration to the Hydrologist, Ground Water Cell, free of cost.
In fresh orders issued on Monday, Meena has directed all owners of boring machines in the district to furnish details to the hydrologist at the earliest.
Details include name of the owner in possession of drilling machines with his permanent and present address, details of the boring machine like the model etc.
Unregistered boring or drilling machines will be considered illegal and police station house officers (SHOs) concerned have been directed to lodge an FIR against unregistered agencies. Meena also ordered owners to submit fortnightly reports regarding the work undertaken to the hydrologist in Gurgaon.
