A man was allegedly strangled to death by his wife’s lover in Shyamkunj Colony in Bhondsi on Saturday late night. The police said preliminary probe had revealed that the victim’s wife was in an extra-marital relationship with a man and had allegedly conspired with him to kill her husband.

The police said the victim, Dhani Ram, was found dead in a vacant plot near a school on Damdama Lake Road in Bhondsi. Surender Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Bhondsi police station, said the woman’s paramour, who was known to the victim, came to his house and took him to a liquor store for a drinking session. “When the victim was inebriated, the man allegedly strangulated him to death. The conspiracy was allegedly hatched by the victim’s wife as she wanted to settle down with her lover,” said SHO Kumar.

The victim’s elder brother, a native of Madhya Pradesh, filed a police complaint alleging that he received a call on Sunday from his nephew informing him about the death. “I was told that my brother’s body was found dumped in a vacant plot near a school,” said the brother.

The autopsy was conducted on Sunday afternoon which confirms strangulation.

A case was registered against the accused persons under sections 302, 120-B of the IPC at Bhondsi police station on Sunday, said the police.
