Medanta—The Medicity acquired a custom-made fire tender on Friday.“We are probably the first hospital in the country to have our own fire-fighting facility. The safety of our patients is of utmost importance,” said Dr Naresh Trehan, chairman and managing director of the hospital.

Authorities said the tender, worth Rs. 67 lakh, was manufactured at Ahmedabad and has a water storage capacity of 8,000 litre, 1,000 litre foam tank, besides storage for carbon dioxide and dry chemical powder (DCP).

The tender is also equipped with high pressure nozzles that can throw water up to a height of 75 metre, while the building is 65 metre.

“The facility will also be available to nearby residents on request,” said an official.
