New Year Eve rules in Gurgoan: Pubs to close at midnight

Vehicles on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road (MG Road) will not be allowed to move beyond IFFCO Chowk after 6 pm Dec 31, police said.

Haryana Police have made special security arrangements for New Year's Eve celebrations in Gurgaon, police said on Friday.

Vehicles on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road (MG Road) will not be allowed to move beyond IFFCO Chowk after 6 pm Dec 31, police said.

"Vehicles heading toward bars and malls in the city will not be allowed beyond IFFCO Chowk. Special parking for such vehicles will be made available in Leisure Valley Park in sector 29," a senior police officer told IANS.

Five feeder buses will be made available to ferry people from Leisure Valley Park to pubs and malls and vice-versa.

Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk has written to Deputy Commissioner TL Satyaprakash to deploy special district magistrates to ensure law and order on New Year's Eve.

Police have also written to the chief medical officer of Gurgaon to arrange a special team of doctors and ambulances for medical aid.

Police will also strictly for check drunken driving.

Women police will be deployed in large numbers and no pub or bar will be allowed to function after midnight.
