No casualties were reported, officials said.

At the time of the fire, the labourers, along with their children, had gone to work.

Strong winds spread the fire quickly across the area located in fields in Kherki Daula village on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway.

Fifteen fire tenders managed to douse the fire after three hours.“A few 4kg cooking gas cylinders blew up like bombs from time to time. The destroyed shanties belonged to labourers working in upcoming buildings,” fire officer Sukhbir Singh told IANS.

The cause is yet to be ascertained.
