The Gurgaon police have written to the Haryana transport department asking it to get black films removed from windows of the buses.

“It has come to our notice that Volvo buses of Haryana Roadways are plying with tinted glasses/black film which is in violation of the directions issued by the Supreme Court as well as the Motor Vehicles Act. After receiving information, we have asked the transport department to look into the issue and told them to follow the law," said a senior traffic police official on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, the traffic police insisted they will take action against all rule violators.

“No one is above the law. We have just informed the transport department and the police will take action if the Roadways buses do not follow the Supreme Court guidelines,” said DCP (traffic) Bharti Arora.

The transport department has also been asked to send a compliance report in this regard.

On May 4 this year, the city traffic police collected revenue of R10 lakh in a single day after imposing challans on vehicles with tinted windows.

A special drive was launched after a Supreme Court order imposed a ban on use of black films in any vehicle across the country on May 4.

Sources in the traffic department said fine collected from erring motorists in 2011 was R5.42 crore, registering an increase from R3.07 crore collected in 2010.
