Residents livid over mounting waste in Gurugram’s Sector 15
They allege that Ecogreen Energy, the concessionaire deputed by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram for waste management, has not been collecting garbage from their sector regularly for the last one month.
Residents of Sector 15, Part 1 have sent a complaint to the grievance redressal wing of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram’s (MCG) sanitation wing alleging that Ecogreen Energy, the concessionaire deputed by the civic body for waste management, has not been collecting garbage from their sector regularly for the last one month. They said they have even written to the chief minister on the issue.
In his letter to the grievance redressal wing of the MCG, Ramesh Vashisht, president, residents’ welfare association (RWA), Sector 15, Part 1, said that the Ecogreen staff seldom shows up to collect waste from the society. “Ecogreen workers rarely show up at our doors to collect waste. Streets here are littered with waste and garbage spills out of trash bins as well, vitiating the ambience of the society,” Vashisht said.
However, Ecogreen officials denied the claim saying their vehicles make regular visits to the area to lift waste. “There is no designated waste dump there. We have not received any complaint from the area as yet. Should we receive a complaint, the matter will be resolved,” Ankit Aggarwal, CEO, Ecogreen Energy, said.
In his letter to MCG’s sanitation wing, the RWA president sought a timely redressal of the issue.
“Earlier, we used to pay ragpickers to collect waste from our society. I feel we should return to our old ways. Many retired IAS officers, bureaucrats and politicians reside here and its a shame that we have to go through this,” BS Yadav, a resident, said.
“The issue has been brought to our notice and we will take prompt action,” Yashpal Yadav, MCG commissioner, said.
