Residents of Essel Towers in Gurgaon against new road

Residents of Essel Towers, an upscale condominium on MG Road, are up in arms against the developer for trying to connect a school in the vicinity to the route used by the residents. The primary school is on the 34 acres where eight towers are constructed.

“There are about 2,000 children living in the society and they walk up to the main road to board the school buses. We do not allow school buses to enter the complex as it gets congested,” said Rajeev Sinha, Essel Tower RWA (ETRWA) president.

The residents of Ivory and Amber Court will face difficulties in parking their vehicles and using the passage to cross the stretch during school hours that coincide with the office hours.

“The whole of Essel Tower has been converted into a concrete jungle and with the upcoming school, the situation will become worse. The developer cannot use the area for which we are paying maintenance,” said Sinha.

Residents also raised security concerns if another entry/exit gate is created.

RWA members and residents have decided to stand against the move and refused to give way for the school buses. “My complex is under threat. Our kids and senior citizens cannot freely walk on the roads due to the heavy traffic that will be unleashed. The buildings are not parts of Essel Tower as such. Why should we suffer this attack on our security?” said Kamal Kumar Panday, vice-president, ETRWA.

“The residents of Easel Tower already suffering a lot during the monsoon and this housing complex will turn into another Iffco Chowk,” Shashi Dharan, of the board of members Essel Towers, said.

However, the developer refuted the allegations and said the route is sanctioned in the approved plan. “The school construction was started two years ago and we have the approved plan. Still, if the residents have an issue with the school bus, we will use the Iffco Chowk route,” said Ankit Goel, director, Essel Housing projects Pvt Ltd.
