The state government notified the final development plan of Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex with a total urbanisable area of 32,988 hectares caters to a projected population of 42.50 lakh, on Friday.

Sarvadaman Oberoi of Mission Gurgaon Development who had raised five major objections said though the new points as raised by residents have been added to the notification, "they do not hold any water."

"No approvals have been taken from the NCR planning board or from the union ministry of environment. We have filed RTI applications with the town and country planning department. We are planning to move the Supreme Court after serving the necessary 90-day legal notice," he said.

The five points raised by the group related to protection of the Aravalis, environmental concerns, groundwater recharge, biodiversity park, protection of heritage sites and development of infrastructure.

Residents have demanded to declare the entire Aravali hills falling in the plan as 'forest zone' and water recharge zone and separate and distinct from the agricultural zone and protect it for all times to come as a sanctuary or the conservation reserve.

The development plan has earmarked 16,021 hectares for residential purposes, 1,616 hectares for commercial purposes and industrial area would cover 4,613 hectares.

Similarly, transport and communication would have 4,428 hectares, public utilities 608 hectares, public and semi-public 2,027 hectares, open spaces 2,928 hectares, special zone 114 hectares and 633 hectares would be defence land.
