Seven vehicles vandalised outside gymkhana club

A group of miscreants on Friday ransacked seven cars parked outside Huda Gymkhana and escaped with cash and other valuables kept inside the vehicles, HT reports.

A group of miscreants on Friday ransacked seven cars parked outside Huda Gymkhana and escaped with cash and other valuables kept inside the vehicles.

The visitors, who had come to attend a wedding, had parked their cars outside the club as there was no parking space inside. According to one of the car owners, the incident took place between 9pm and 10pm.

"I reached the venue at 9pm and parked my car outside. When I came out after an hour, I saw the windows of my car were smashed and my money was stolen. Thankfully, none of my documents were touched," said captain Raj Mallik of Sector 27.

The unidentified accused also broke the GPS installed inside Mallik's car.

Mallik said there was a PCR van deployed at the venue as some VIP guests were expected to attend the wedding. "I don't know how the miscreants managed to do this despite police presence. I strongly suspect gymkhana's security persons are behind this act," he added.

But the Sector 29 police rubbished the victim's claims.

According to police, though seven cars were parked outside, only two were smashed and no valuables were stolen. "The area where these cars were parked had no lights. The PCR van was standing too far away and there were no VIP guests," said inspector Hardeep Hooda.
