Kataria, who is the state minister of sports and youth affairs and Gurgaon MLA, had moved his anticipatory bail plea on Tuesday in the court of additional district and sessions judge SK Khanduja.

The court had reserved its order till Thursday.

A city-based NGO, Matdata Jaagrookta Manch, in its petition filed in 2009, had alleged that Kataria got 17 of his relatives to acquire forged documents to obtain multiple voter cards from different booths in his constituency.

On April 1, his supporters had allegedly assaulted two men owing allegiance to the petitioner NGO soon after a court official went to his house to serve the summons.

Political parties had staged protest against the minister’s alleged high-handedness following the assault.
